SILVERDALE--During their school's service week, April 18 through April 22, Ridgetop Middle School students read to younger kids at another school, collected pet food, gathered hygiene products, donated clothing, and held a Service Saturday in which students volunteered to come to the school on Saturday April 16 to pick up trash on their local streets. Along with picking up trash on the streets, students placed new bark down around the school. “We put a lot of new bark down in the flower gardens around the school, and then my classmates and I raked the bark out evenly,” said Madeline Anderson, an eighth grader at Ridgetop Middle School. SILVERDALE--The Spring Fling dance held on April 15 at Ridgetop entertained students with black lights, free glow sticks, koosh in the courtyard, and dancing in the library. Eighth grader Sean Conner said, “I liked the black light hallway, but I wish there was more black lights next time.” Students were given the chance to bring a friend from another school if their principal filled out the form on time. Not quite as advertised, there was a black lights hallway. The science wing lights were off, multiple colored black lamps shone, and music blared. By Ally Toms
SILVERDALE--Forty-two Ridgetop Middle School students showed up to school on Saturday, April 16th at 10AM to improve their community and school grounds. The students either walked up to Emerald Heights Elementary School and back, picking up trash or they installed new bark at Ridgetop to make the front of the school and the courtyard look better. Service Saturday kicked off a whole week dedicated to service activities. It was intended to help students get excited and ready to bring in items for the following week. |
